This book didn’t have the same magic as the first three. Even though I read the og trilogy when I was young I revisited them many times as an adult. They hold-up as wonderful books, with well developed characters and strong world building. This however was an unlikable prequel for me, it felt like the writing was completely different. It created confusion surrounding long established lore and I found myself struggling to connect with the FMC, unlike previous books where the main protagonists intrigued me.
