A Duke, the Lady, and a Baby by Vanessa Riley
2.0

These characters in concept are strong, complex, and interesting. I love the diverse representation and voices in fiction, particularly Regency era! However, this book did not live up to expectations stylistically. I found the alternating first person and third person narratives jarring in this novel and the flow of the dialogue to be staccato in places. We never truly get a sense of who these characters are beyond what is learned in the first 1/4. The plot made big promises but never quite delivered on the intrigue and suspense that were promised in the synopsis.
