this was goooood. at the root of this is a relationship between a college student and an author she loves, and how that relationship impacts her life in the future when he is accused of sexual assault.

the writing in this is phenomenal and completely sucks you in. I ran out of the colored tabs I was using because I was highlighting and making so many notes. I loved the switching between timelines and the purpose of second person. i never found myself confused.

I loved how this looks at power imbalances in relationships, emotional manipulation, toxic co-dependency, and how easily it can be for someone to mold themselves around another. really excellent social commentary on the objectification of race as well.

the only reason this was not a full 5 stars is because I predicted what the “fallout” reason would be, but that in no way detracted from my overall enjoyment.

I’ll highly be recommending this one.
