Coming back to this in my adult years after having read it as a teen did precisely what I hoped such a re-reading would do. It was certainly much more profound, and I am able to see and pick out more of the nuances and the tragio-comedy of it all, and appreciate all the wondrous art referenced here and there. What a read, and what a wondrously original vampiric lore that would define generations to come. I suppose that I could understand why TVL could not have been adapted to the screen with the same integrity as IWTV had in the 90s, and I certainly hope that the upcoming television series attempts to do this some good and well-deserved justice.

A splendid read for all those who are not only very much in love with vampires and the undead, but also for those seeking to explore and see the answers to questions that they may continue to have, and in Anne Rice's own words, live the life of Lestat as perhaps, we would never dare to.
