The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger

5.0

This is the story of Holden Caulfield, a teenage boy who struggles to find where he belongs wandering in the streets of New York.

The language used in the book is mostly colloquial. I found it quite difficult in the beginning to adjust myself, but after sometime it was okay.

The most important aspect I find in the book is honesty. How honest Holden is to his own feelings. If we're as half as honest as him to our own feelings, half of our problems would be over.

It was a 4 star read from the beginning. I couldn't understand why people raved so much about this book until Phoebe happened. She is the reason why I gave this book 5 stars.

It took about a week for me to read this with work, but I do think this book should be read in one go.

If I've read this in my teenage years, I'd be able to understand my mindset better. But, as one would say, its always better than never.
