This one starts out marvelously, but loses speed along the way, so it was disappointing as Julian Barnes' books go. The protagonist is a young man who falls in love with a much older woman, and the rest of the book is their love story. This young man has very little self-knowledge and it doesn't seem to improve a lot as he grows older. Seemingly he comes to understand many things along the way, but I don't think he really does. And his reflections get somewhat tedious. Sadly.
Well narrated by Guy Mott.
