The House of Hades by Rick Riordan
4.0

So many things to be happy and satisfied about. One thing I'll always love about these books is that at their core is friendship! Precious, amazing, very-much valued friendship! Sometimes I think Riordan tries to shoehorn in too much romance, as if he needs to get absolutely everyone paired up, which is ridiculous. And I'm really not a fan of those ham-fisted love triangles, and if I'm honestly, he could have afforded to spend more time building up the platonic relationships in the books. But the bonds of friendship that were between these kids were so strong, and I loved that.

Hazel was amazing. Frank was amazing. Leo was amazing. I love all these kids a LOT, but these three have wormed their way permanently into my heart. And Nico... god. I saw it coming, but I didn't dare hope, and then it was true, and I was happy and it hurt in the best way... ugh, I just want to give everyone a big hug!

Again, I find that a rotating POV works much better for me and for the story as a whole. And I'm incredibly glad we got to see a little bit of all the heroes. They all had a part to play and did it splendidly.

I was disappointed that Frank's gift from Mars didn't wear off, (I cringed at the fact that he got it on the first place) because it's pretty gross that Frank being an amazing hero (which he always was/had the potential to be) had to go hand in hand with him getting a physical change.

But all in all, I really loved this book. It might be my favourite of the series so far! I'm sad that the end of the series of coming up, because I feel like I never want to see these kids growing and learning and saving each other. I just hope the finale is as good, or better, than this was!
