Okay I was so excited to start this book after the ending of the first and I am so glad I have the rest of these preordered! I’ve seen some comments about it just ending but there is a bonus chapter from her sisters POV that shows everything is not fine, and that her brother the new king is planning on “setting the world on fire” aka setting up the next storyline.

I enjoyed seeing her sisters in bits through this and have a feeling they will continue to pop up because ithicana will have to be involved because this war is not over obviously.

Most of this story is saving Aren, and the Lara feeling guilty and doing anything she can including trying to sacrifice herself to save him and his(their) people.

Tbh there is one sex scene that felt odd, it happens after a major injury and I get the adrenaline but meh I actually could have done without it in this story, or had it happen at a different time.

This story is very heavy on the politics of the world especially Keris and his planning. He’s playing the long game and using Aren and Lara as pieces, so I’m excited for his story to see what his goals really are, and what will happen with him and his love interest.
