Unlike other reviewers, I actually loved Daphne and Rebecca's story and they definitely deserved to be the focal point of this book. Their BDSM dynamic is so fascinating and the lines between purely kink and a relationship keep getting blurred...

I could really see myself in Daphne and I'm glad we've got a proper fat character here who's not just curvy. She still struggles with her body and being with Rebecca doesn't immediately solve all her issues.

God, Rebecca! It was so nice to get to know more about her family and understand her motivations and thought processes more but how she acted in the end still infuriated me, especially after we'd just gotten such a touching flashback to the start of their relationship.

No spoilers here but I'm hoping those two get their HEA in the last book!

Okay now onto the weird incest stuff 💀💀 I'm aware that I'm losing all credibility in future Cassandra Clare discussions here but Simone made me *think* about incest and its morality a lot.

As I said in my last review, Auden and Saint's relationship is the one in the group I care the least about (besides Poe and Becket but that feels different, y'know) — sorry babes, I'm only here for girls and the gay girls <3.

Honestly, I'm not here advocating for or against their relationship, I'm quite neutral about it. I did like the forbidden romance/can't stay away from each other aspect and how they tried to handle that with Poe in the mix, too. Still hoping it's a red herring though, if only so my main girlie Poe can get the relationship of her dream.

I love, love, love Becket and there were so many quotes about faith I marked in this book (and in Estamond's sections!) and that's the "will he, won't he" plot I was wayyy more invested in. Personally, I'm against celibacy for Catholic priests and I'm excited to see how his plotline will play out in the last book. It's a lot of trying to be there for himself and live out his truth (being really horny) while also not wanting to leave what he sees as his true calling.

We get a lot more history in this book and don't have The Big Orgy Scene that we got in the last books and though I understand the reason, I'm still disappointed! There was so much sex here but not so much Ethereal Pagan Orgy sex :(

Did this book get a bit weird at times? Sure. But honestly atp I'm only here for discussions about Folk Catholicism, let me just ignore the incest okay
