Drake James does not fall in love. He has one night stands and he does not care to know their names. Let’s play two truths and a lie. I love Sadie Kincaid, I have been waiting for this Manhattan Ruthless series forever, and Promise Me Forever is my favorite book. Ehhh. this one didn’t hit like her mafia books and I found myself being really annoyed over and over with the “relationship/situationship” between Drake and Amelia. I wanted this to be a slow burn, but it’s hard to have a slow burn after a one night stand. Then you have the boss/employee relationship, forbidden love, grumpy-sunshine? I found myself skimming a lot because I hated the way Drake would treat Amelia when he was trying to deny himself, and while Amelia didn’t take it sitting down (and I love that for her), she gave him far too many chances. I really want to love this series as much as I loved LA and Chicago Ruthless, but it’s just not happening. Maybe Elijah’s book will be better?
