Sex, Lies and Sensibility by Nikki Payne
4.0

After Pride & Protest, her ability to weave Austen lore into a modern novel was obvious. Having only read a synopsis of Sense & Sensibility (I know, it's on my TBR now), she seems to have matched up a classic Austen with modernity yet again. I enjoyed the Nora's feistiness coupled with Bear's steadfast stubborn self. Yanne provided the flighty and free voice in contrast to Nora, but also added depth and another perspective to the tale. The political tension of the local First Peoples reservation residents with the Maine residents/businessmen added a layer perspective that should be on my brain more often than it is. The twist character in the story was not my favorite and not having read the original seems a weird voice to include. However, the character growth by the end was evident and provides what seems to be a true HEA. Looking forward to the next Nikki Payne interpretation of Austen...
