Over the Top: A Raw Journey to Self-Love by Jonathan Van Ness

I finally finished this.
Had a hard time getting through the first half, but the second one was so much stronger.
What I noticed with autobiographies that are written by people who are no writers is that they use a lot of description of certain live events but they cannot really build a bridge to their feelings at that time and how it influenced their live. This often only happens at the end of the book where they draw their conclusion and think a lot more about how they’ve grown and what they want you to take away from their story.
Nevertheless it was very interesting to get to know his story and after this book, I have so much more respect for Jonathan than I already did.
His autobiography is a hopeful one, no matter how may mistakes you make, no matter how hard hits you in the face, there’s always hope, there’s always opportunities to get back on your knees and if that isn’t a beautiful message I don’t know what is.
