Holy. I'm not sure I have the words. This book brought a historical failing of the Church and created something so real, so understandable, and so difficult. It took something I've always known to exist and assessed all of the historical, religious, class, and political aspects, while wrapping it in characters that were so real I could know them. This book took a few sittings to get through because the emotions and content was just...tough. It was difficult but necessary to read. I cannot recommend this book enough. Read this book, and then do something with what you've learned from it.
