And to think, I almost put this down about halfway through because I was "bored" (read: impatient and wanting the characters to act on their obvious feelings for one another). But then I checked myself and my impatience and I said, self, you're here for a slow burn good time, and you're going to finish this book because you know the pay off will be worth it.
And it was!
I also cried through most of the final act, in a good way. Which I feel is the marker of a truly successful romance novel. I love to be overwhelmed, make me cry from how touching and romantic and lovely this is, I dare you.
