Searching Blind is the seventh book in the Redwood Coast Rescue (RWCR) series and one of my favourites so far. The story had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Combining an adventurous survival story with a suspense plot, FMC Lucy, MMC Sawyer, and Sawyer’s loyal canine companion Zelda must survive in treacherous mountain terrain following an earthquake whilst a dangerous mystery unfolds around them.

Having first met Lucy in a previous RWCR story in which she’d almost fallen victim to one of the previous book’s villains, I loved seeing her rediscover her confidence and strength. I also enjoyed learning more about Sawyer, a series regular since book one. He is every bit as gentle and warm as his assistance dog, Zelda, but his resilience and quick wit also shines through in the story.
Lucy’s and Sawyer’s romance encounters a few hiccups along the way, with the circumstances forcing them to come to terms with the most vulnerable parts of themselves, but the emotional and physical slow burn is well worth the wait.

Tropes:
💜 Small town
💜 Forced proximity
💜 Hurt/comfort
💜 Slow burn

What I loved:
💜 Nail-biting and adventurous survival story
💜 Strong suspense plot
💜 Disability and mental health rep
💜 Diverse established cast of characters
