Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2: Angela by Brian Michael Bendis

3.0

Okay, it weirds me out a little that the first thing I actually read with Neil Gaiman’s seminal and much litigated character ANGELA is a book Gaiman did not write, in the volume 2 of a series I didn’t read volume 1 of*. AND YET. As an introduction of a character into a universe, it’s pretty epic. She punches real good. And she finds things worth punching.

I did find the AMOUNT of bosom a little eye rolling, but having it backed by some serious muscle helped offset it.

And I think I might love Rocky Raccoon. I did not see this coming.

*So I buy more comic books than most people. But I read more than I buy because I ain’t buying them if I’m not going to re-read them, and EVEN SO my file at my local comic store seems pretty full. My local comic book store, Danger Room, is owned by two guys who seem honestly happy to see me every time I come in. So things like this I check out from the library. Tacoma Public Library has three copies of volume 2 and none of volume 1. Weird decision making. I’d complain, but they DO NOT ACCEPT USER EMAIL which taints my otherwise great affection for the local library.
