This was a fun read for me. I very much enjoyed seeing Peter in this new setting at the major cottagecore vibes it provided. The characters were fine, I liked Dominic, Beverley is iconic as always and I kinda loved seeing more of Peter's angsty side.
The plot was also intriguing, even though it definitely leaned more fantastic than I was expecting (
yes it's a fantasy novel, but unicorns and fairy realms were definitely not on my bingo card
). I generally did like the case though, and thought that the leads were adding up in such a way that you kept guessing along with Peter. However, it didn't amaze me completely, partly because the resolution at the end felt a bit abrupt, but mainly because the first book of the series just completely blew my mind with its genius plot twists, so now every time I pick up a new part of the series, I have very high expectations that are never quite met. Still, the book was very good, and I am looking forward to reading the next one.
I hope we finally see Lesley again.
