Owen and Emilia. A forbidden love, age gap, second chance at love type of romance that has you cheesing at the lines Owen says and squirming at the lines Owen says… if you know what I mean. This book and storyline is the definition of Labyrinth by Taylor Swift - where the two characters realize throughout the book that there is more to their situationship than surface level attention. I do have to admit that this is my favourite in the series so far.

A note to anyone who reads that at the beginning, the book jumps back and forth between the present and the past to help the reader understand what happened between the two of them. It was so cute and was such a nice way to integrate history into the storylines but also make sense of why there’s been tension between them. I also really liked how we were brought into scenes from previous books and gave us a different perspective.

When Emilia first moves to the city after a terrible break up, her and Smith had a one night stand which turned into a whole weekend of them truly connecting and starting something so beautiful. The thing is, they didn’t talk business at all, and a few days later realized who the other really is. Emilia is the niece to one of his coaches, and their relationship is about as forbidden as it can get, especially with Emilia being the teams new social media manager.

A few years have passed and they have both fought their connection to each other and stayed away, but when Emilia is tasked to do a social media profile so the fans can truly get to know the man behind the hockey mask, they just can't hide it anymore. Every longing look, every touch, every stolen kiss and heartfelt confession makes them want what they can't have more than anything. But as we all know, dirty little secrets are always aired out.

Of course this book had a conflict, but the conflict was one I appreciated. It was Emilia chasing a goal and dream of hers and Owen pushing her to be the best she can be and pursue a career she loves and has worked hard for. They were both driven personalities, with dream and aspirations, and it was so heartwarming to see the two push their feelings aside for the sake of their own happiness and careers. Their sexual chemistry was off the charts, but the undeniable love and genuine care they have for each other was even better.
