Artemis Fowl
by Eoin Colfer
The Fowl family has been one of wealth and power, with a little criminal activity sprinkled on the side. Twelve-year-old Artemis has recently had to take the reins of the empire, since his father was killed in a freak accident and his mother broke from reality afterwards. The Fowls do not have the kind of money that they used to and Artemis is determined to fix that by any means necessary. Artemis is determined to take gold from the fey folk. After cracking the codes the fairies live by, Artemis with the help of his skilled butler, Butler, and Butler sister’s, the housekeeper, the trio kidnap a fairy and hold her for ransom. It is unbelievable that a mud person, or a human, could outsmart the fey folk and this kid seems to always be a step ahead of the LEP, the fairy police task force. Will the dastardly Fowl get the money, or has something more started between the fairies and the humans?
I love super intelligent characters, who use their smarts to maneuver through life. Artemis is a villain I love to hate. I am totally not on board with what Artemis is up to, but in the dark corners of my heart I am rooting for him…plus, he is kinda kicking the LEP adults butts. I think this is going to make a great movie and I can’t wait to see it when it premiers.
