The Mother Tongue: English and How It Got That Way by Bill Bryson

informative slow-paced

5.0

While this book was published in 1990, the information up to then that was given in this book is truly fascinating.

The research that went into this was probably not what I would equate to a graduate or PhD thesis, but it was written for someone who enjoyed words and language that didn’t necessarily have a degree in either.

Bill Bryson is a funny writer and I really enjoyed reading this.
