Not quite what I was expecting, and unfortunately, not the book for me.
The good: Parts of this book were interesting, and you can tell that the author has put a lot of research into this. I loved that she highlighted the distinct lack of resources for Indigenous peoples, despite their communities being disproportionately affected by mental illness.
The bad: Its difficult to explain, but the tone and writing style didn’t really work for me. The author also seemed very eager to call out all mental healthcare workers as coercive. While I agree that there is ample room for improvement in how we treat mental illness, I disagreed with a few of the statements made.
