The Guncle by Steven Rowley

A really sweet and lighthearted story about an uncle who (re-)connects with his niece & nephew after a series of family tragedies and complications. It reads a lot like a sitcom or Hallmark movie --which is maybe why some of the emotional stakes sometimes didn't feel quite earned, IMO (but maybe, that's more your jam!). The romantic storyline felt shoehorned and implausible, and though I appreciate the portrayal of a gay uncle to help normalize that scenario, I find the bitchy, emotionally-stunted-yet-entertaining gay man trope reductive and believe it to be equally as problematic and dehumanizing.
