The Dead Ex by Jane Corry

4.0

I’m ashamed to admit this was my first Jane Corry book. This book blew me away. It had so many twists and turns and normally that can throw me off but the book neatly wrapped up and I loved it! The Dead Ex is a thriller and mystery. Vicki who suffers from epilepsy and is living alone runs her own essential oils business out of her apartment. Her ex husband Daniel left her for his mistress a few years ago and she still hasn’t gotten over it. When the police show up at her door a few years later and inform her that Daniel is now missing and they think she’s harmed him. Vicki informs the police that due to her epilepsy she suffers from memory loss and she hasn’t seen Daniel in years they accuse of her lying since they have voicemails of her constantly calling him and pictures of her yelling at him. The chapters alternate between Vicki and a little girl named Scarlett who is a child being exploited by her mother to steal. When Scarlett’s mother goes to prison her story becomes a depressing circle of foster homes and not knowing who to trust. The more the story unravels we uncover a link between Vicki and Scarlett and this is when the book begins to get crazy! Soon your introduced to Helen a woman who is so desperate to get close to David and now where does she fall in with Vicki and Scarlett? Vicki is determined to prove her innocence but when she can’t remember everything she soon begins to not trust herself and when you begin to dig into everyone’s past you start to see actions have consequences! I give this book 4/5 stars and highly recommend to anyone who loves thrillers and suspense as much as me!
