To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf

4.0

“To the Lighthouse” by Virginia Woolf - a novel which uses the technique known as the stream of consciousness to explore the issue of creativity and the relationship of the author with her deceased mother.

Was it good? It was… interesting. The sentences were long (thoughts usually are flowing, so that’s to be expected) and the words were almost poetic. But there’s no plot to catch on to, not really. It’s a meditation on life as a process of painting and a journey (to the titular lighthouse).

Would I read this if I didn’t have to do it for the literature classes? No.

And you’d only read this if you were stuck in the middle of nowhere, without anything to entertain you except for this book. But not out of your own will otherwise. It’s simply something you’d engage with if you were to have copious amounts of time.

8/10 ⭐️ mostly because of the lovely language.
