These Jagged Edges by Tuesday James
3.0
This was a good debut romance set in a small town with found family, hurt/comfort, grumpy mmc, and single mom tropes. I enjoyed all the characters and shed a tear or two at the pain both Evie and Maddox (fmc & mmc) had been through. The abundance of side characters that were introduced definitely created that quintessential small-town feel and I think helped set up future books as well.
What I struggled with was really feeling that deep down chemistry between Evie and Maddox. There was a lot of storytelling outside of their connection and that kept pulling me out of the romance, I think. Others who enjoy a slow burn more than I might feel differently and like their connection more.
Overall, a good debut but off the mark for what I personally was looking for. (Also, I think Maddox needed to grovel a bit more even if I did feel for him with his grief...)
Thank you to the author and TheAuthorAgency for the e-ARC of this book. Review is my honest review.
