Room by Emma Donoghue
5.0
Five year old Jack truly broke me with this one. It’s a beautifully written book. Not for everyone, it does focus on captivity so some heavy topics handled. But I think it’s important that there are books like this out there.
It was beautiful but soul destroying at the same time. Jacks descriptions of room and his daily routines were just heartbreaking. Mas down days were handled well. I personally preferred the first half, I didn’t enjoy the aftermath quite so much.
It’s a really interesting read, I’ve recommended it over and over. The film is not great though, would read the book first!
