One Wish by Michelle Harrison

3.0

One of my students had recommended this and I was really excited to read it, since our tastes in books usually sync up perfectly. Sadly, I found myself getting distracted the whole way through One Wish. The characters weren't fully formed, and the mean, nasty fairies were just that -- mean and nasty, with not much hope for the future! The whole plot took too long to be explained and the ending was so, so abrupt. Who ends a book on a 38-line poem that the reader has already read?! (spoiler alert) I can only hope that the mother's wish was to stop being such an ungodly BITCH.
