The American by Jodi Ellen Malpas

5.0

I am so sad that this is the last book in the Unlawful Men series.  I have loved this series so much.

In this final book we get Brad Black’s (The American) story.  I have been waiting for this since he was first introduced in The Brit.

This book is told in the POV’s of Brad, Pearl, Danny and Rose.  I would have loved to see POV’s from James and Beau.  Even though they do not have their own POV’s they are still very much a part of this book.

When Brad (Danny’s cousin) first meets his woman Pearl, he is in a bad place, and he doesn’t treat her very well, but she gives as good as she gets.  He realises what she means to him, but he still gives a lot of mixed signals to start (much like Danny, The Brit and James, The Enigma in their books) and at times I really, really wanted to slap him.

We get action from start to finish.  I don’t know how JEM still manages to throw in so many curveballs.  We think the characters have got themselves out of a situation only to get something else thrown at them.  I could not put this down.

I loved that we got 3 epilogues.  One from Brad, then James and lastly, Danny.

And the last line….

I can’t wait to see what JEM comes up with next.
