The prose is well written/translated. However, the story is about a nasty old man who has sex with basically whoever for 50 years waiting for his first sweetheart's husband to die so he can try again. He assaults a maid and grooms a child, which he's the legal guardian of in his seventies, for sex and has a sexual relationship with her until he can finally get his with the woman he's obsessed with instead.
