I had to give myself a little breathing room before writing this because I had very strong feelings about this book.

I didn’t love it. I felt the writing was off, the dialog was kind of goofy, editing wasn’t great, and there was a TON of repetition. You don’t have to say your grandfather’s name every time you mention his writing or his books. Or that the cabin was made of “hand-hewn logs” or the name of the lake. Or the name of the town. We know. We get it.

I really disliked Julia within the first few lines of meeting her. Seriously - how old is this woman? She’s a nagging, pushy, busy-body who acts like she’s in her 20s…but bosses everyone around like they’re her students. She makes me cranky. And to just brush off infidelity like that “because she knows the other side” when her supposed BFF went through it WHILE TRYING TO HAVE THE GUY’S BABY…..Nope. GTFO with that nonsense.

I very likely will not be continuing this series, but glad I gave it a try.
