I started reading because I wanted to read a short book by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
A lot of the book was repulsing as a woman, because he objectifies a lot of women and lusts for a minor as an old man.
That being said he does develop as a character and it was interesting to see him reflect on his life and what brought him to the stage he's at.
Overall, I don't think I'd recommend this to people unless they want to read something thought provoking and controversial.
