Slewfoot is a beautiful, frustrating and spooky read.
The characters are so well developed and fleshed out. You grow to appreciate some and full on loathe others (cough, Wallace, cough). The storytelling is great, nice pacing and a lot of religious zealots and hypocrisy which makes you really feel like you’re experiencing Puritan society.
The physical book includes beautiful illustrations and I found myself flipping back and forth to help me visualize who was talking - especially those pesky wild-folk.
If you love feminine rage, revenge stories and Mother Earth connections, Slewfoot is a fantastic spooky season read.
Embrace the witch!
