Did not finish book. Stopped at 16%.
By the end of page 15 I was already getting bored with the narrator that I can only describe as Lady Whistledown X Nathan Lane (in the Bird Cage) and it's just a verbose elevation of the main characters mwdicory as it clashes with his nostalgic romanticizing of his sexcapades with others vs his young lover who happened to be his night club nemesis' child? The attempts at self-deprecating humor are as boring as the subject they try to reflect on. The words "Russian River School" literally feel like an elitist sledgehammer each time they are used. I could go on, but the lover nostalgia is cringe and the protagonist is only a decade older than me so I don't say it lightly. Ps I love David Sedaris and Walter Dean Myers which Storygraph AI threw into the suggestion, but even with those purported similarities I've decided to put it down. Perhaps my completion OCD will kick in later and I will force myself to finish.
