Doctor Strange, Volume 3: Blood in the Aether by Jason Aaron

2.0

I was truly interested in the setup for this volume: that with the world mostly deplete of magic, Doc Strange has to start making up new spells instead of relying on the same Hoary Hosts of Hoggoth and all dem other silly names readers have heard ad nauseum since the character's creation. And there's a really interesting thing happening on the sidelines with the new Mister Misery character and Orb, the ex-thief who has taken over the duties of THE WATCHER but in a sadistic way. But instead, Aaron uses the last few issues of this volume to quickly ramp up to a yawn-worthy boss fight. I want to see more of the supporting characters built up before launching back to the same classic, inevitable villains. Come ON! By the last page, I had mostly lost interest in what was happening.
