The Queen's Confession by Victoria Holt
4.0
The life of Marie Antoinette, from a little girl to a Queen.
The reader is introduced to a cheerful archduchess, spoiled and flippant. She spends her days without a care in the world, until her mother announces that she is to become the Dauphine of France. Placed in a new world, who see Austrians as the enemy, Antoinette was cursed from the start. Misguided and misunderstood, her reign was not a happy one and, as everyone knows, ended tragically.
I have always been a royalist, which is odd for an American to state, but it’s true. Even with all of Marie Antoinette’s faults, I still believe she could’ve made a great Queen. If only she would’ve been loved as she deserved. A good book, that did her justice, and a nice addition to my collection of Marie Antoinette books.
