The Last Chance Library
by Freya Sampson
I loved this SO much. Local government tries to shut down the library and the locals aren’t having it. The library assistant is the main character. She’s still mourning the loss of her mother and doesn’t feel she has much to offer anyone, but of course she’s really the glue that’s held the library together. I lol’d, cried and sighed.
“…the library is about so much more than simply books. Libraries are like a net, there to catch those of us in danger of falling through the cracks.”
A library haiku:
“Libraries are boats
And the books are life jackets
Without them we’ll drown”
