Certainly a step up from the first book in a lot of little, subtle ways.
Rune has really grown on me, as has Brand in his own annoying way. Not really sure what Addam's role in all this is besides to bring extra money, fire power, and the occasional pep talk into the relationship. It's cute how all three of them see and treat the younger generation as their kids.
I'm slightly disappointed we didn't make much headway into Rune's private investigation, feels like a dangling thread that could have used some spinning as a subplot. Mostly I'm just nosey and want to know what actually happened that night, but I also acknowledge that that's kinda super weird of me.
Also call me crazy, but I swear several infodump paragraphs were copied word for word from the previous book. Huge disappointment, that.
The Hanged Man storyline was pretty interesting, I find I much prefer time and mind fuckery to the seasons and weather fuckery from book one. Glad that nasty fucking pedo got his long overdue comeuppance... crazy that we're supposed to pretend like all the other Arcanas didn't enable him for centuries, though. I'm glad we're planning on calling at least one of them to task soon.
All in all, a good time. Very fond of this series now. The epilogue almost felt like the series finale, I can't even imagine what we're in for with the final book.
