This book is truly exceptional. While many outstanding reviews have already highlighted its merits, I want to emphasise the profound emotional impact it had on me.

The story is a powerful blend of rawness, brutality, sadness, tension, humour, and authenticity. As I immersed myself in the narrative, I felt as though I was on an emotional rollercoaster, experiencing a whirlwind of emotions that ranged from seething anger to deep despair, and ultimately, a sense of overwhelming strength as I witnessed Jim’s remarkable character development.

The writing is not without its challenges; it demands attention and introspection from the reader. However, I firmly believe it is a journey worth taking—one that everyone should embark on at some point. The themes explored including slavery, racism, rape, power dynamics in this book resonate deeply and leave a lasting impression, making it a significant read in today’s literary landscape.
