The Giver
by Lois Lowry
It's a strange book.
I mean, was the world supposed to be black and white? I liked the idea of the world being perfect but "the release" thing was frightening. And I didn't feel connected with the characters... I hoped I would connect with them as the story develops but it ended so abruptly and I was left with the, "what!" expression.
I liked the idea of the story but I didn't like the way it developed. It clearly doesn't inform about anything in particular. I wanted to know more. Or maybe I missed out the details.
The pain that people feel is no longer in the dystopian community. Everything is same and even color is not distinguishable. But there are people like The giver and Receiver of memories who bear the memories of pain. A very interesting plot and a very good and (kind of) sad story. But I don't know, I felt that something was off. I am still thinking "What did I miss?"
