The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas

5.0

No thoughts. Head empty. One of the (if not the only) greatest pieces of literature I have had the pleasure of reading. This one is a Novel with a capital N - virtually perfect on many fronts, starting with plot construction. Man, Dumas was a master plotter, it's insane how he was able to handle and manage so many different storylines, so many characters, so many background stories. The man singlehandedly invented plotting, intrigue and vengeance and I will hear no opposition. The pace and the rhythm were also nearly immaculate, allowing a book which is well over 1k pages to read fluidly as earthly possible. You will not find a dull chapter in this book; the story is always going, never stopping, constantly at an all-time high. All of this certainly makes for an exciting, riveting, heart-pounding novel. Gosh, there are so many things to be said about it. Just give it a try, TRUST me, it’s unlike any classic I have read before. It doesn’t carry the same kind of stiffness one usually finds in books from the 1800s. This book is an adventure, an experience even, it will rock your world.
