5 stars except why does this white male have women basically begging to sleep w him when he is supposed to be spending a year in professional and emotional turmoil also why does salander have to be brilliant and autistic also why is this white male—written by a white male—seemingly perfect ??? despite having obvious flaws he is portrayed and perceived as flawless. he gets everything he wants and more. he is hailed a hero. and what does salander get? why does she get less when bromkvist gets more without even asking? he entangles himself w all these women feeling and thinking and experiencing and all he does he is work work fuck and work. he doesn’t even tell berger harriet’s story bc he can’t handle it. poor white boy gets exposed to someone else’s trauma and is praised for basically completing a job.

but also undeniably i am totally completely and utterly in love w this book. fantastic writing. fantastic translation. thorough detailed alert funny and honestly very insightful and thoughtful. the plot commands your interest and attention and time—my god i don’t remember the last time i pored over a book so intensely. highly recommend. love. dying to talk to someone abt it.
