4.25 ⭐ one of the most talked about books of this year, i saw fourth wing hype on booktok and just had to check this book out for myself...even if i haven't read fantasy in a really long time.

first of all, this book was SO MUCH FUN. great fight scenes, amazing characters that you just have to root for, and a found family trope i absolutely adored. you can't forget about the captivating romance.

i could not put this book down, i was hooked from the very first chapter. i just had to keep going and find out more.

does it have cringy dialogue at times? of course. it reads like a fucking YA fantasy from 2014 like divergent. but that's some good fucking food to me so i was fine with it.

does it have simple world building and people might not like it because of that? maybe, but i personally enjoyed it because it was the first fantasy book i've read in a really long time, and i really needed a beginner's guide before i dive into more elaborate fantasy plots.

overall, with the somewhat cringy dialogue, "cliché" storylines, some might say, and the overuse of the word "gods" (which kind of annoyed me), this book was great and so much fun. i will definitely be tuning into its sequel which releases in november.
