This book sweeps you up in the emotional experience of the narrator, the writing is simple and effective, and it is hard to put down.

This was a delightful introspective novel that held my interest despite the fact I knew how it would end. I enjoyed the non-sensational treatment of the main character's relationship; the intimacy scenes didn't feel voyeuristic.

I agreed with other readers at first that the ending felt clunky, but by the very end I changed my mind. I liked the restless spirit solution and the way it allowed Thetis's attitude to have some resolution.
