VERY dense and detailed, with some interesting commentary on translation and related linguistic issues. Sadly, I could not get into the book or enjoy it as I'd hoped to because from very early on it was clear that, while putatively about translation,  the ACTUAL subject of the book was the unparalleled brilliance of its author, whose sublime skills and mastery of the issues he was discussing were trumpeted on almost every page. On the basis of my experience reading this book,  I would "translate" his surname by replacing the "c" with a "g"
