Alright, I give up. This book is not as tiresome as God Emperor but still massively overdoes the pompous internal monologuing. And the treatment of sex and women in this still feels like there's fetishizing mixed into the prose. I just don't trust that any of this is going anywhere worthwhile given how meandering the previous books in the series have been. And the endless philosophizing is so monotonous, I'm not sure it would be worth the journey anyway.
