This book started off as a 5 and unfortunately, as I got more into the story slowly became a 4 and then a 3.

I loved the quirkiness of the characters and the treasure hunt that lead Tuesday, Dorry, and Archie on a quest that ends with a slight twist. The adventure begins when the wealthy and eccentric Vincent Pryce dies and, in his will, bequests the city a treasure hunt.

I started off enjoying the mood and the characters and most of all the clues that Vincent had left. Then as the story progressed, Tuesday stated getting on my nerves and the whole Archie/Nathanial story became flat. And really, Tuesday only talks with one ghost, which bummed me out as I assumed, according to the title, she’d be talking with more than one ghost.

The ending, with the singing and the panels falling off, I really just had to roll my eyes. It felt more juvenile in nature than the rest of the book. For me, the issue was, the beginning and middle of the book was really really good, that when the climax and ending happened, it was just kind of a shrug the shoulders kind of ending.

Overall, it’s a quick read and I’d recommend it with the caveat that one should not expect a phenomenal ending.
