The premise of this book is fascinating.  I loved the historical aspect blended with the folklore of the countries. I can appreciate the author trying to take their grandparents' love story and turning it into this, but I honestly wished I had gotten more of their actual story. Setting aside the fact that you know the main characters are meant to be together because they are based on the grandparents, I actually felt like their relationship/love felt a bit forced. They seemed far more likely to be just friends. I was far more interested in the secondary characters, Jin and Kenzo, and I wished that we could've delved deeper into their stories. Eunji, the mfc, felt a bit underdeveloped in that her growth seemed limited and only goaded by the actions and words of others. Regardless, I enjoyed the storytelling.
