The Dragon and His Prince by Adara Wolf, R. Phoenix

4.0

The Dragon and His Prince is a delightful twist on a knight’s tale, as this prince sets off to slay the … wyvern, that ends up not being a wyvern after all, and is instead a dragon, who takes an interest in making the comely human his treasure.

There’s a lot to enjoy on this crazy dragon ride. Prince Larkin is adorably clueless but also irresistibly drawn to the dragon, Jade, who in his (mostly) human form has some rather … fascinating endowments. The start to their relationship is a bit dubious, as aphrodisiac saliva and other traits keep the prince in the dragon’s lair. But their interactions are filled with wry humor and eventually genuine affection. But when the fate of the kingdom is in question, will Larkin choose his duty over his dragon?

This is a quick-paced romance blended with some adventure and a few truly dark moments (be sure to read the CWs). I so enjoyed Larkin and Jade’s interactions, from their humorous debates on history and the smut that may or may not be involved with it, to their sweet exchanges of love, to their super hot and inventive sexy times. I freely admit that I’m a sucker for a great dragon romance, and this one fit the bill beautifully. This was my first read from these authors, but it definitely won’t be my last — this is book one in the Monster’s Pet series, and I can’t wait to see where they go next!
