Happy City: Transforming Our Lives Through Urban Design by Charles Montgomery

4.0

I chose this book to help organize my thoughts on I where we might want to live when we move from our current location. I happen to agree with the author's definition of a desirable city configuration (dense, multi-use areas with shopping, restaurants, jobs in walking distance), so it was a useful read.

The author presents some history of how cities have developed, what drove their current configurations, etc. There are plenty of examples of good and bad designs around the world, and a good presentation of the challenges to urban design that benefits the greatest number of people. It's a dense read, but worthwhile.

Now the challenging part: finding a happy place to live (since I wouldn't have the patience to try and mould my current city to my liking ;)
