Shall I Stay by Nuria Muñoz
2.5
This review might get edited in a few days, I just needed to dump my thoughts since they are fresh.
I'll start by saying that this is in fact one of the few books I have read set in Puerto Rico that I felt was by someone that is or has been to Puerto Rico. I loved the tiny bits of culture and the island in the story and I really appreciate it.
Most of my issues are with the plot. I didn't like the first proximity in this or the banter between them. I didn't like the kind of digs from the Spanish Character example being surprised food in Puerto Rico is so good because she comes from the land of Paella, I get that maybe it was supposed to be funny but I didn't find it funny. There were a couple of lines that really rubbed me the wrong way, but fair.
I found Rico to be a tiny bit bland, I don't know why. I wasn't blow away by him (or her) in this book.
It's not my book, and maybe give it a chance and ignore everything I just said. 2.5 stars.
